2018-2019 Programs

We are happy to offer the following programs opens to students in grades 1st-12th who are either enrolled in the Westford pubilc school system or who are Westford residents enrolled in an accredited public, private, or home schooled program.

Recreational

These are meant to be fun and competitive recreational leagues for those interested in playing basketball with and against their friends. These leagues are open to boys and girls that live in Westford and/or go to Westford schools. Everyone interested will be placed on a team.

Travel

These are meant to be competitive teams that play against other area towns in the River League (girls) and Merrimack Valley League (boys). These teams are chosen through an evaluation process that takes place in September and October. 

*You must either live in Westford or go to school in Westford and have a parent that works for Westford schools to be eligible to play on a travel team(this is a travel league rule not a WYBA rule).

Recrational Program Descriptions

1st Grade Boys and Girls Program

Who: Boys and Girls in 1st Grade

When: Sundays (1 hour)

Where: Crisafulli

Length: 7 weeks from mid December through February

This program is meant to introduce the game of basketball and begin to teach the skills needed to enjoy the game.  As the session progresses, short games will be introduced.

2nd & 3rd Grade Girls Instructional League

Who: Girls in 2nd and 3rd Grade

When: Saturdays (1 hour)

Where: Crisafulli

Length: 10 weeks starting in December and ending in February.

Players will be placed on teams.  A portion of the time will be used for instructional skills and drills followed by a game each week.

2nd and 3rd Grade Boys Instructional League

Players will be place on a team.  Teams will be formed after evaluations.  Evaluation nights will be in November.  Teams will be announce in late November/early December with games starting thereafter.  The season ends in early March.

High School Girls (HSG)

Who: Girls in 9th,10th,11th,12th Grade

When: Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday night game (1 hour once per week occasionally twice per week)

Where: Blanchard

Length:  December to early March

Players will be place on a team.  Teams will be formed after evaluations.  Evaluation nights will be in November.  Teams will be announce in late November/early December with games starting thereafter.  The season ends in early March.

High School Boys (HSB)

Who: Boys in 10th,11th,12th Grade

When: Sundays (1 hour) and Monday (1 hour every x weeks, depending upon the number of teams) 

Where: Stony Brook on Sundays, Abbot on Mondays

Length:  December to early March

Players will be place on a team.  Teams will be formed after evaluations.  Evaluation nights will be in November.  Teams will be announce in late November/early December with games starting thereafter.  The season ends in early March.

Who: Girls in 4th,5th,6th,7th,8th Grade

When: Practices Monday through Friday evenings (1 1/2 hours, 2x per week).  Games usually Saturday and/or Sunday

Where: Practices are usually at Crisafulli or Blanchard.  Home games are usually at Blanchard.  Away games are within 30 minutes of Westford.

Length: November to March

Travel tryouts start in September.  There are a limited number of travel spots.  Players are asked to register for tryouts (no charge).  There may be several tryout dates and callbacks before the final team is assembled.  Teams are finalized in mid October and the season runs from November to March.
